Look who came to Taraval to help us celebrate the Chinese New Year! The lion did the lion dance and firecrackers scared evil spirits from entering FOG. Below, the lion checks out Stacy’s Hair Studio for possible grooming.

Another Benefit to Going to Museums?
You may live longer! Researchers in Britain found that people who go to museums, the theater and the opera were less likely to die in the study period than those who didn’t. Read all about it here. Maria Cramer / New York Times

Jamy Donaldson's Opening
A very exciting opening! If you couldn’t make it, be sure to stop in this month to see the beautiful pictures by Jamy Donaldson in the current AERIALIZE show. Jamy’s drone shots of the city, our ocean, and Lake Tahoe will amaze you. These are printed on aluminum, although Jamy can size and print to your specifications. He also has made an Ocean Beach tide calendar using his images. I might add that our own Tidelogs have just arrived and are ready for purchase. Finally, we are having our annual Winter Solstice celebration on Saturday, December 21st, so come help us bring back the sun.

Happy Thanksgiving
This month affords us all the opportunity to be thankful. Anne and I are so grateful for the artful community that has grown up around FOG these past four years. We are thankful for our new neighbors Raj and Vipen next door at the Sea Bee, and our old pal Jenny at the delicious Chinese/Irish bakery Sweet Passion, and the folks that run After Hours. Needless to say, deep thanks to all the dogs who drop by, some looking for water, some for Carmen, and others looking at the art. With that in mind, do stop in on Thanksgiving Day to see Anne’s art, on this final week of her show, Suspended Animation. -Peter
We’ll be open Thanksgiving Day.

Last Weekend to See Jessica Dunne's Show
Anne and I will surely miss Jessica’s work at the gallery, but we are among the fortunate who live with her work. In 2009, I commissioned 5 local artists to create a work for Anne’s 50th. Jessica took this to the limit and produced a magnificent large canvas of the Camera Obscura at the Cliff House, replete with Anne in her yellow jacket standing and observing the scene. She transformed this prosaic structure into something else entirely. It is hanging over our bed and provides us with a daily dose of Jessica Dunne’s particular vision of her surroundings. We also have two small and evocative prints of bicycles that she made while on a residency in Germany, and we enjoy them every day. I for one will be saddened to see a Dunne-less gallery, and urge you all to come and pay your respects to this one-of-a-kind Jessica Dunne Sunset exhibition. -Cheers, Peter
Celebrating and Remembering Harry Cohen
Harry turned 95 in August, had a new show coming up in Santa Fe, was involved in his documentary with the famous Bagel Boys and was working on new paintings just last week. He was visiting with our artist friend Gugger Petter, and she reported “…he was so well and fine last week, enjoying friends and making art until his last day.”
He was a true artist, gentleman, hilarious story teller, and kindred spirit. I remember a particularly wonderful visit with Anne to his Woodside studio, which was chock full of whimsical sculptures, gorgeous drawings and a zillion paintings. He was one of FOG's favorite artists, and we will always be grateful for our time with him. -Peter

Night and Day/Jessica Dunne
Jessica Dunne’s works will be on display through September 29.
Jessica Dunne's Opening
Jessica explained to us the title of her show: Joy in Repetition is the name of a song by Prince whom she adores. She said it fits her because she revisits the same subjects over and over again like many of her favorite artists.
